XMA-001 Spider Tank

The spider tank project was created as a modelling, UV mapping and texturing exercise. Kitbashed from various mechanical part sets, XMA-001 was a long and complex process which started by researching the movement and construction of large machinery in an effort to create realistic looking limbs and possible movement. I wanted everything to look like it could actually work, with pistons and joints that made sense.
As this was a UV mapping exercise I spent considerable time planning out decals and details to add to as many parts as possible which helped compliment the procedural materials used for the base surfaces. The final outcome was combined with a sci-fi soldier model to give a sense of scale.
